SUMMER ADVENTURES

Fishing

Known for some of the best fishing in Colorado, Grand County offers a wide spectrum of river and fly fishing and various lake fishing options. Guests can throw a fly or drop a line from our property into the Colorado River or walk a few hundred yards to fish Shadow Mountain Lake from shore or by canoe/ kayak. We can organize a private clinic lead by local guides on our property, or help coordinate an off-site fishing adventure. Either way, fish is a plenty!

Hiking and Parks

One of the biggest draws to this area, Rocky Mountain National Park has numerous hiking trails, with varying degrees of difficulty. Families with young children can easily make the little trek up to Adams Falls, while those looking for a challenge, may enjoy waking up early to summit the Mount Ida. Arapaho National Forest borders part of our CCA property, providing beautiful nature walks and a chance for serenity.

Watersports

Surrounded by beautiful Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake and Lake Granby, CCA guests have direct access to swimming, boating, year round fishing. Grand Lake has a great beach area, perfect for swimmers and sun seekers. Ski boats, sailboats, paddleboats and canoes are available to rent at nearby marinas, however, if you prefer to bring your own boat, CCA may be able to provide short-term parking for your trailer during your stay.

Golf

Don’t forget your clubs! We have four excellent golf courses within an easy 10-25 minute drive from CCA. Grand Lake Golf Course, Grand Elk Golf Course, Golf Granby Ranch and Pole Creek Golf Courses all rank amongst the top mountain golf courses in Colorado. Imagine playing a round with dramatic views, interesting spectators such as moose, elk, fox and deer and… the longest drives you ever hit!

Horseback Riding

Another way to enjoy the beautiful mountain and lake scenery. Horseback riding is a fun option for those wanting to tap into their inner cowboy or cowgirl. There are several nearby stables with well-kept horses we can recommend.

ATVing

If four legs aren’t adventurous enough, try four wheels. Grand Lake is surrounded by wilderness that can be wildly explored using four big wheels and hefty power. There is a great place nearby we recommend for rental vehicles accommodating one to four passengers. Old historic mines, hidden lakes, mountain passes, forest trails, and a variety of wildlife such as moose, goats, elk, black bears and sheep are all possible sights in the backcountry.

Mountain Biking

Enjoy the ski trails without the snow. Both Granby Ranch and Winter Park ski areas convert their winter wonderlands to mountain biking trails and challenging obstacle runs. Bike rentals are available close by. Just don’t forget your sunscreen and padded bike shorts- that way you will protect where the sun shines… and where it don’t!

Hunting

Since the beginning, Grand Lake County has been revered as a hunter’s promised land. CCA provides direct walking access to Pine Beach Park Shadow Mountain Lake shoreline, a known destination for game birds and waterfowl. Big game such as moose, elk and deer are also on the ticket. Let us put you in touch with an experienced hunting outfitter to guide you to the best spots. All hunters are required to purchase a Colorado hunting license.
